Groups
What are CyVee Groups?
CyVee Groups allow you to interact in smaller circles with other CyVee members. It offers extra features to group-based organizations to help their members stay in touch with one another and discover powerful new business contacts within their groups and beyond. Within groups, you can organize offline events, share expertise / knowledge and hold discussions.
Who can create groups?
On CyVee, anyone can create groups. We strongly encourage people to participate and stay involved. So if you can think of a good topic, go ahead and create a sub-community. However, please make sure of two things:
a. Before creating your own group, check to see whether similar groups already exist.
b. Take responsibilities for maintaining group activities and discussions. Get your members involved. There is no point of having a group that is completely inactive. CyVee will automatically remove groups with less than 5 members and own less 3 topics after 6 months.
How do I control who can join my groups?
When creating group, or at a later time when you edit your group, you can set the group to be open (anyone can join freely) or closed (requires approval from moderators).
What do other settings mean?
Invitation privileges: You can chose whether all group members can invite users to join the group or only the moderator can do this. Once a person is invited, he/she will no longer require approval from moderators to join.
Member visibility: You can restrict the view of member list to moderators only, or members only, or leave it open to everyone, including non members to see.
Discussion visibility: You can restrict the view of discussion to moderators only, or members only, or leave it open to everyone, including non members to see.
