What should I do to protect my privacy?

As CyVee is an online community, opened to everyone, you should adhere to the following guidelines to ensure that your privacy is protected:

1. Never display your contact information such as phone number or email address at public places (whiteboards, discussions, questions or answers, etc…). If people need to contact you, we will send you a note to let you know.

2. Do not ignore abusers. If somebody spam you or send you abusive messages, report them so we can take appropriate actions.

What does CyVee do with my information?

We are committed to the privacy of your information. We will never rent or sell your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. We will never share your contact information with another user, unless both of you choose to contact one another. Any sensitive information that you provide will be secured with industry standard technology. For more information, please review our Privacy Policy

What do the privacy settings in “Account & Settings” mean?

You can determine who can see what information on your profile:

a. Everyone: means all CyVee users will be able to see the information. This will indicate to us that you want to include this section in the public profile.

b. My Network (2 levels): means only your connections (people who are directly connected to you), and their friends (2nd level connections) can view the information.

c. My Direct Connections: means only people who are connected directly to you can view the information

d. Premium users: means people who pay monthly subscriptions can view the information. Please note that these people are usually serious about networking online and are here to either recruit or look for business partners.

e. No one: means the information will only be shown to you.

Why are Premium users so special that CyVee allows them to view some of my information by default?

Because Premium users are usually serious people with confirmable identity, we believe they would add more value to the network. Besides, since they paid for their accounts, they are committed to comply with the Users’ Agreements, or their account will be revoked and they loose their money.

You can, at any point in time, change the settings to remove Premium users from viewing certain information.

What if I don’t want to get contacted from strangers?

Very easy! You can change the settings “Who can send me private message?” to “My Direct Connections”. However, please remember that no one except for the people on your list of connections will be able to reach you.

What is block list?

Block list is a list of users whom you don’t want to hear from. You can add spammers and abusers to this list by opening their messages and click on “Block”.

How do I report intrusion of my privacy? What will CyVee do about it?

On any messages or whiteboard, you can click on report, enter your complaints and submit to us. We will review it and send the abuser/spammer a warning. After 2 warnings, we will block the account of this individual and withhold all of their CVD.

What if I want to cancel my account and have all my information removed?

Please contact us with this request and we will close your account.
